Imposter Syndrome in Small Business

Hello and welcome to this weeks blog.. with a bit of a twist! I, Amanda, am not the one writing for you today. Instead, we have the lovely Claire Burns.

I invited fellow small business owner Claire of "Wellness with Claire" to talk to us all today about imposter syndrome, something I'm sure we've all experienced at some point in our self employed travels, even if only felt briefly, it can be debilitating.

Enough from me though, let's hear from Claire...

"Hello, I'm Claire, a mother of two wonderful girls, a wife, a professional, and the founder of a wellness business empowering women. When I'm not working, you'll find me out in nature, exercising or on the football pitch as my new found hobby. I'm a reader and popcorn lover, finding joy in life's simple pleasures. With a passion for wellness and a zest for life, I aim to empower other woman while navigating the beautiful chaos of motherhood, career, and personal interests.

Let’ talk Imposter Syndrome – That sneaky feeling of not being good enough – can be a real pain!

As a mum of two, a working professional, and a wellness business owner, I've had my fair share of moments where I wonder, "Am I really cut out for this?" It's like that little voice saying, "Who am I kidding?" But here's the thing – I've learned that it’s ok to doubt myself sometimes and acknowledge that self-doubting monster we all face! Because let's be honest, life's a juggling act! Motherhood, work, and running a business create the perfect recipe for self-doubt. From balancing school runs to client meetings, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and question our abilities. But hey, imperfection is part of the journey, right? So, what's the secret sauce for dealing with this imposter syndrome drama?

First off, embrace the vulnerability. It's okay to admit that sometimes you feel like you're in over your head. Share those feelings with trusted friends or a supportive community – you'll be surprised how many can relate!

Next, rewrite that inner dialogue. When imposter syndrome whispers, "You're not good enough," Hit back with, "I am capable, and I am worthy." It's all about shifting that negative self-talk to a more positive tune.

And lastly, seek support and mentorship. Connect with other mums, professionals, or business owners who understand the struggle. Finding a mentor, can provide invaluable guidance and a fresh perspective when you're feeling lost in self-doubt.

Remember, we're all in this together, navigating the highs and lows of life's rollercoaster. By embracing our imperfections, rewriting our inner narrative, and seeking support, we can silence that pesky imposter syndrome and step into our power with confidence.

After all, who better to empower others than those who have fought their own battles and emerged stronger on the other side?"
